Untuk apa berpindah kantor? Tentu beberapa alasan yang menyebabkan saya selaku pemilik Penerbit Diomedia memindahkan kantor lama yang berupa kos-kosan itu selama 10 tahun berada di sana harus melakukan perpindahan atau bertransformasi agar keadaan lebih baik. Baik secara bangunan fisik, manajerial, orang-orang yang akan bertamu lebih nyaman, saya pun lebih percaya diri dalam mengelola perusahaan kecil-kecilan ini. Tidak hanya itu saja, saya menyadari bahwa ketika memindahkan sesuatu sebenarnya alam semesta pun turut serta. Bahkan lebih tepatnya berada di kos-kosan selama 13 tahun sejak berpindah dari Boyolali tahun 2011. Tentu waktu yang tidak sebentar ini telah membawa banyak kebijaksanaan hidup baik suka dan duka. Proses kehidupan yang selalu membawa angin perubahan inilah yang saya nikmati dan syukuri.
Profesi mengajar dan menulis serta dorongan mendirikan penerbit semakin kuat. Kiat dan strategi berkat meluangkan waktu berkunjung ke bebeberapa penerbit senior menimbulkan jejak kagum tersendiri bagaimana menjalankan industri perbukuan dan penerbitan ini. Bermula dari kecintaan terhadap buku dan dorongan menjadi penulis muncul, maupun berkomunitas, saya memutuskan memulai usaha penerbitan. 10 tahun Penerbit Diomedia itu sudah dibukukan dengan judul buku “Semua karena Cinta”.
23 Agutus 2023 kami menandatangani kerjasama magang mahasiswa dari PBSI FKIP UMS di sebuah dapur kos kantor lama yang selama 13 tahun ngekos dan berkantor menjalankan industri penerbitan. Dua bulan sebelumnya mencari kontrakan rumah tetapi 25 Agustus baru bisa menemukan kontrakan rumah yang cocok dan representatif. Rumah milik rekan mengajar saat di LEC 2009 silam. Mbak Nuna, yang juga dosen UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta saya DM dan awalnya hanya menanyakan jika ada kenalan rumah dikontrakan mohon infonya. Tetapi malah rumahnya yang dikontrakan. Alhamdulillah saya langsung menyatakan cocok dan kontrak 2 tahun. Ini baru membayar tahun pertama. Tahun kedua saya berjanji Januari 2024 untuk pelunasan. Semoga bisa. Karena tujuan berbisnis di bidang perbukuan sangat religious: menolong agama Allah melalui iqra membaca dan menulis dan wahana penerbitan buku menjadi sarananya. Insya Allah juga akan ditolong.
Prinsip mengasihi sesama makhluk untuk tumbuh bersama adalah kunci dalam mengelola bisnis. Ramah, tidak marah dan menjadi rahmat bagi seluruh alam. Proses pindahan lancar dibantu Teddy Wijianto, networker muda kebudayaan yang merekomendasikan teman-teman dari IMM UMS untuk mengangkut 9000 ribu lebih melepas dan memasang kembali 6 rak besar di kantor baru ini.
Satu hal setelah menata buku, mengganti semua lampu, kran, dan membeli peralatan pel dan kamar mandi, aku merekrut mitra kebersihan. Ada mahasiswa yang melamar kerja dan bisa menjaga, merawat kebersihan kantor Diomedia.
Dari awal mendapatkan kantor baru ini, saya dan Mbak Nuna melakukan sesi foto bersama dan saya unggah di media sosial. Juga proses pindahan yang melelahkan ini senantiasa diunggah di cerita Instagram yang bisa terhubung langsung ke cerita Facebook. Platform yang memudahkan kita untuk bersosialisasi dan bersinergi agar keberadaan, proses kreatif, serta hasil produksi bisa diakses publik.
Transformasi
Tidak menerima pendapat orang lain, dan semau kita, bahkan tidak berkomunitas adalah jalan manusia kesepian. Keinginan berpindah ke sebuah rumah yang bisa dijadikan kantor adalah mutlak. Membutuhkan persiapan matang, tidak hanya uang sewa kontrak saja, tetapi apakah rumah itu representatif. Ini memerlukan keberanian dan waktu survey. Sehingga apa yang aku lakukan terhadap pemindahan kantor baru walaupun di kota yang sama yaitu di Kartasura, tetap memerlukan riset mencari beberapa kandidat rumah siap huni dan mudah diakses serta estetik.
Alhamdulillah aku mendapatkannya setelah dua bulan lebih mencari ke sana ke mari. Tujuan spiritual-religius adalah menolong agama Allah melalui iqra: proses membaca dan menulis dengan menjalankan industri penerbitan dan mendistribusikan buku. Ini sangat menarik di saat perbukuan di Indonesia sedang lesu, namun semangat menularkan pencerahan melalui produksi bacaan bermutu terus bersemangat dan tidak pernah menyerah.
Transformasi utama di kantor baru yang terletak di sebelah kanan Kopasus Kandang Menjangan ini menitikberatkan pada penjualan langsung kepada konsumen dan memulai program pengembangan penerbitan buku-buku tunggal yang lebih massif. Akademi Menulis Buku Pengembangan Diri menjadi pijakan lebih serius memproduksi buku dari penulis dalam negeri yang mana mereka masih hidup dan ingin terus berkembang serta tumbuh bersama. Kami menyadari itu semua lebih mementingkan manajemen manusia. Bagaimana kita mengelola emosi diri agar tidak egois, mampu menahan marah dan kritik di sekeliling kita. Tanpa bantuan orang-orang dekat yang bekerja sama dengan kita, tentu sebuah perusahaan tidak bisa berjalan dengan baik, bahkan bisa oleng tak terkendali. Munculnya empati saling pengertian bahu-membahu satu sama lain berdampak positif dengan meningkatnya kinerja masing-masing karyawan dan personal.
Untuk itu saya sangat setuju bahwa manajemen diri bersinergi dengan manajemen perusahaan dalam mengelola sebuah usaha. Tidak bisa dipungkiri bahwa yang terjadi di diomedia selama 10 tahun adalah belum ada penataan perusahaan yang sesuai standar mutu. Terutama manajemen manusianya yang harus terus ditingkatkan apalagi menyangkut barang dan jasa yang dijual berupa buku dan juga jasa penerbitan. Walaupun telah membangun usaha selama ini, saya menyadari sepenuh hati bahwa tidak bisa serta merta menjadi perusahaan yang besar, memerlukan proses dari keberlangsungan sebelumnya dan mampu melakukan keputusan-keputusan tepat sasaran dan berguna bagi kebaikan bersama. Meningkatkan pelayanan prima, pengawasan dan menjadi mutu terhadap produk yang ditawarkan akan mampu bersaing secara kompetitif dan sehat dalam mengoperasikan penerbitan ini.
Saya menyadari bahwa kerjasama berkomunitas adalah hal yang mutlak dalam menyongsong masa depan yang lebih baik demi kenyataan atau realitas hidup ini. Tanpa adanya meningkatkan ekosistem perbukuan tentu kita semua dari para penerbit kecil bisa tiarap. Bergerak dan beraktivitas merayakan proses bersama dalam berbuku dan berilmu inilah mampu mencapai keinginan dan harapan bahwa sekali lagi produksi ilmu pengetahuan berkelanjutan senantiasa bisa berjalan dengan terus mengkader calon-calon penulis dan menjalin ikatan dengan para penulis yang sudah lama berproses menjadi penulis. Pemikiran mereka menjadi cahaya umat manusia.
Di sinilah terjadi transformasi dari interaksi berbagai pihak yang menyadari kepentingan bersama untuk mengikis gengsi dan sadar sepenuhnya dalam mencapai cita-cita mulai menuju peradan yang lebih tinggi dengan campur tangan berbagai pihak tentu sinergi perubahan di Diomedia akan senantiasa terjaga.
Anggaplah bahwa di tahun ke-11 inilah saya menyadari dan bersikukuh mantap untuk membuka selebar-lebarnya kolaborasi dengan pihak-pihak seperti kampus, komunitas, dan orang-orang yang mencintai buku bersama. Guna terus memupuk dan menumbuhkan iklim pengetahun yang terus berkembang pesat. Penguatan inilah akan menginisiasi kegiatan-kegiatan kreatif-kolaboratif dalam berproses.
Semua orang punya proses masing-masing dan mereka, kita semua akan menjadi apa seperti yang kita pikirkan terus-menerus. Misalnya bagaimana saya memecahkan stok buku yang menumpuk akibat menurunnya daya beli dan juga melambannya ekonomi sekarang ini. Pendekatan obral buku murah dari stok kulakan 5-6 tahun lalu adalah keniscayaan sehingga mendapatkan uang segar dan ini menjadi proses soft opening kantor baru di Pucangan yang mana banyak akses publik orang-orang yang belum tahu ada penerbit dan bazar buku murah menjadi bisa memiliki buku yang telah dikurasi dengan harga terjangkau. Trik ini memicu orang-orang terutama pelajar dan mahasiswa agar lebih mencintai buku. Semoga terus bertambah penjualan sampai soft opening berakhir 20 Desember 2023 nanti.
Saya sangat optimis dan kritis bahwa pendekatan komunikasi dan psikologis akan memberi secercah harapan bahwa buku masih menjadi benda hidup yang terus-menerus dibicarakan dan diproduksi untuk kemaslahatan bersama. Hidup harmonis antarmanusia dan seisinya.
Dengan menurunkan harga jual pada bazar soft opening ini, para pelajar dan mahasiswa di sekitar kantor mulai berdatangan membeli buku yang mereka minati. Saya bahagia sedikit demi sedikit kantor baru ini mendapatkan pengunjungnya. Pendekatan psikologi-komunikasi lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan menggunakan sponsor berbayar yang sudah saya lakukan. Instagram sponsor memang mendapatkan banyak “like” namun tidak berdampak pada pengunjung yang datang langsung. Biaya iklan per push sebesar Rp300.000 memang membantu secara traffic agar pengguna media sosial mendapatkan iklan kita.
Walaupun secara otomatis langsung bisa mencapai target audiens, iklan berbayar digital ini belum memuaskan saya secara pribadi. Kemampuan komunikatif yang telah saya lakukan jauh lebih berhasil karena terjadi interaksi langsung antarmanusia.
Ada beberapa sekolah menengah atas dan sebuah kampus di sekitar kantor terbaru kami: SMA IT Nurhidayah, SMK Muhammadiyah Kartasura, dan SMA N 1 Kartasura serta UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Warga terpelajar inilah yang membawa pencerahan dan turut serta meramaikan beberapa agenda kami, mulai dari bazar, musyawarah buku, dan one day menulis, serta bermimpi mewujudkan kursus bahas Inggris yang menyenangkan.
Saya yakin usaha komunikasi antarmanusia akan menghasilkan ekosistem perbukuan yang lebih dinamis. Dengan berdiri dan mandiri tanpa baying-bayang penerbit lain sehingga memiliki orisinalitas atau ciri khas kriteria buku-buku yang diterbitkan, tentu akan mendapatkan sorotan tajam dari masyarakat buku. Di sini sangat berat memikul beban dalam merangkul pasar. Kecil skala oplahnya dari menulis bersama antologi memoar, dan juga penerbitan buku tunggal, kalau dilakukan secara masif dengan senantiasa menjaga kwalitas dan kebersamaan, tentu kepercayaan akan semakin kuat di hati publik.
