Buku ini diangkat dari skripsi berjudul Coping Stress pada Pegiat Komunitas Menulis Memoar (Studi Kasus pada Pegiat Komunitas Menulis Memoar di Surakarta)” Program Studi Psikologi Islam, Jurusan Psikologi dan Psikoterapi, Fakultas Ushuluddin dan Dakwah, Universitas Islam Negeri Raden Mas Said Surakarta, 2022. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena pada Komunitas Menulis Memoar bahwa pegiatnya dapat menuliskan pengalaman pahit masa lalunya ke dalam buku memoar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui coping stress pada Pegiat Komunitas Menulis Memoar di Surakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Informan penelitian berjumlah 2 informan utama dan 2 informan tambahan dengan rentang usia 22-38 tahun. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi serta analisis data dibantu dengan software Atlas.ti versi 7.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan coping stress pada Pegiat Komunitas Menulis Memoar terungkap dalam 8 aspek, yaitu: Plainful problem solving, informan sudah mampu menganalisa akar permasalahan dan menyiapkan solusinya dengan baik yakni dengan menyadari pentingnya self esteem (harga diri) dan mencintai diri (self love), informan memiliki kontrol diri yang baik dengan meningkatnya self esteem setelah menulis memoar, informan memiliki support system yang baik dari sahabat dan keluarga. Kedua informan menyadari tanggungjawab dalam penanganan stres. Aspek escape avoidance yakni dengan meningkatkan self love melalui menulis memoar. Informan mampu menjaga jarak dengan masalah (distancing), mampu mengambil makna atas stres yang dialami bahwa dalam menangani kondisi stress dapat dilakukan dengan menulis memoar sehingga meningkatkan self esteem dan self love.
