Karya sastra sejatinya tidak hanya berperan sebagai media edukasi yang memberikan pengetahuan terhadap semua kalangan. Namun sisi lain dari sebuah karya sastra adalah sebuah media yang berfungsi untuk menggambarkan imajinasi dan perasaan penulisnya, salah satu contohnya adalah karya sastra berupa puisi. Puisi merupakan salah satu jenis karya sastra yang disajikan secara imajinatif dalam wujud bahasa. Puisi menjadi media dalam mengekspresikan perasaan seseorang mengenai suatu hal, baik itu mengenai perasaan dan suasana hati yang penulis alami maupun mengekspresikan suatu hal yang menjadi bagian dari imajinasi si penulis. Apa yang diuraikan dalam puisi tentu merupakan suatu hal yang menarik bagi penulisnya sendiri. Puisi diekspresikan melalui kumpulan kata-kata indah yang dirangkai dengan penuh makna di dalamnya. Bahasa yang digunakan merupakan bahasa tersirat, puitis, dan indah yang terkadang dibutuhkan pemahaman lebih untuk mencerna apa yang disampaikan dalam puisi. Supaya puisi dapat dinikmati secara komersial, biasanya mereka dikemas menjadi satu dalam sebuah kumpulan yang dikenal dengan sebutan antologi.
Antologi yang merupakan sekumpulan puisi itu dikemas dan kemudian dibukukan dengan tujuan untuk dijadikan sebagai bahan bacaan secara komersial bagi banyak orang. Puisi yang dijadikan satu kumpulan buku sejatinya dapat memberikan kemudahan bagi pembaca dalam mencari beberapa pilihan untuk referensi puisi dalam jumlah yang melimpah. Antologi biasanya berisi sekumpulan puisi karya seorang penyair maupun kumpulan puisi dari beberapa penyair yang berbeda. Antologi puisi biasanya berisi sekumpulan puisi dengan mengangkat tema yang sama. Puisi yang dihadirkan bukan semata-mata hanya sebuah coretan yang ditulis tanpa adanya maksud tertentu. Tentu ada hal yang ingin disampaikan penyair dari puisi-puisi karyanya. Ada pesan moral dan nilai kehidupan yang pastinya ingin disampaikan oleh para penyair melalui puisi-puisi tersebut yang sengaja dikemas dengan diksi indah serta mengandung unsur kiasan agar tercipta penafsiran tidak hanya dari satu sudut pandang, namun dari berbagai macam sudut pandang dari olah pikir para pembaca. Dalam menciptakan suatu karya sastra khususnya puisi, tidak memandang adanya batasan usia. Setiap orang memiliki kebebasan dalam berkarya dan menorehkan tulisannya agar dapat dinikmati oleh setiap kalangan. Salah satu antologi puisi campuran atau berisi sekumpulan puisi dari beberapa pengarang dapat dilihat dalam antologi puisi karya siswa sekolah dasar ini.
Buku dengan tajuk “Melukis Rasa: Sehimpun Puisi” ini menghadirkan karya puisi dari 59 penulis. Puisi yang disajikan merupakan karya siswa sekolah dasar yang di dalamnya banyak disajikan puisi yang beraneka ragam seperti di antaranya mengenai alam, ibu, cita-cita, guru, hewan, rasa cinta tanah air dan masih banyak lagi. Buku ini dikemas dalam buku sebagai wujud apresiasi terhadap karya para penulis sekaligus supaya karya mereka dapat dinikmati dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Melalui buku ini kita dapat melihat bagaimana kreativitas peserta didik khususnya siswa jenjang sekolah dasar dalam pengekspresikan imajinasinya melalui puisi-puisi ciptaannya. Pembaca dapat melihat bagaimana pola rangkaian puisi mereka yang dikemas dengan bahasa penuh keindahan sesuai imajinasi yang tergambarkan dalam benak mereka. Dapat dilihat bagaimana mereka menyusun sebuah kata menjadi bait-bait puisi yang indah dan menyimpan pesan tersirat di dalamnya.
Semoga buku ini dapat memberikan manfaat berupa edukasi terhadap siapa pun terutama pembaca serta memberikan sumbangsih terhadap dunia pendidikan dan pengetahuan. Selain itu, buku ini juga diharapkan dapat merangsang kreativitas siswa dan pembaca dari berbagai kalangan untuk mengembangkan kecintaanya terhadap karya sastra khususnya puisi, juga membuka pandangan terhadap siapa pun bahwa sejatinya berkarya tidak memandang batasan usia. Baik tua maupun muda memiliki kebebasan dalam berkarya selama tidak menyalahi norma yang berlaku dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Demikianlah kebebasan tidak memberikan batasan terhadap siapa pun dalam menciptakan sebuah karya tulis yang layak untuk dijadikan sebuah bahan bacaan yang mendukung kebutuhan edukasi.
